If this is dream, don't wake me up

Have I told you how great my life is? Im not exaggerate it, but everything seems unreal. I never think that I actually born with passion for fashion. Nor I have specific talent. Seeing a lot of people who is way better than me in any field, I should admit I doubt about myself. But God works in his own way. Ever since I become a servant of God, I feel more and more blessed. Besides that, I am feeling grateful for having a supportive bf. He encourages me all the time no matter how much I complain (he probably feel annoyed sometimes :')

He is a caring brother, good listener and advisor, amusing friend, reliable partner, a talented cook, unbelievable makeup artist, ex-model, fashion admirer, and shoe entrepreneur wanna be. There are still a lot about him that I can't write one by one. In the end, he is mine. My one and only one, RDN ♥ thanks for everything ! :)

Plaza Senayan Palm Award 2013

This should be posted long time ago. And has been save as draft for two months. Blame me on my laziness to blog. As I wrote in my previous post, I joined Plaza Senayan fashion competition and be one of the finalists, I attended five days quarantine of Palm Award 2013. Meeting new people whom adore fashion, and made friend with them. It's my very first time joining fashion competition, bet you can imagine how excited I am. Luckily I have Wiha with me, because she's one of the finalist too. I think five days passed so fast. Well, It's a little tired at first, because you know I just get back from bf's hometown before heading for quarantine. But I do enjoy every moment, and I'd rather call it a holiday instead of quarantine.

See how I arrange all my stuffs.

On our third day, we visited Textile Museum in Jakarta. Instead of listening to the guide showing us types of Batik, we were being camwhore around the museum.

With the forever bestie - Wiha

With the boy Whempy - Ilonkz and Rian

Keep calm and crossed the legs

Me with Didik - A man with his strike pose

Me With Ranti

Geng Rumpi

And comes the D-day! At the backstage, snap snap and snap!

Well, you can hardly see the dress is way to short for the model. I felt so disappointed about that. Guess I have to work harder in the next competition. Sorry for the image quality, that is all I have.

I am joining another competition, wish me luck ! :)

Beyond fashion

We are living in a world where fashion has took over people's lifestyle and mindset. Great innovation has been invented. Whether it turned out helpful, weird, or extremely unbelievable? Here are some invention beyond our thoughts.

Color-changing topcoat from Orly
It changes the color of your nail polish depend on the temperature. Imagine how cool and convenient for girls who loves to change her nails color every week.

Clothes-spray by Manel Torres
I must say this is a (very) clever invention. Especially for a designer-wanna-be like me. I don't have to do the pattern drafting and most important I won't be needing sewing machine! So I'll just simply spray the liquid on model. Spritz! Spritz!

Morphogenesis 3D Printed Shoes by Pauline Van Dongen
As we have seen many things created by using 3D printer, well the printer itself is already an incredible invention. But when it comes to fashion, I still can't help myself to be fascinated. Those shoes look kind of elastic, so it must be comfort to wear. Moreover, see how fashionable it turned out!

Foot panties
I don't find this foot panties as amazing as the three inventions above. But I still think I should blog about it, yeah because it sort of weird and cute in the same way. What do you have in mind?

As you can see, fashion has been brought to a new whole level. Even there're many great innovations but some people are still prefer the traditional and nature stuffs. The idea of making this post popping up in my head when I read news on internet. How fast our cultural and technology has grown. Remember how Kim K struggles the pain during the vampire facial? Even if it turned out a brighter and healthier face, it still seems crazy to inject your face with your own blood.

Another story that made me concern about beauty these days is Juli from bunbunmakeuptips.com
She is having a common facial treatment, but things just gone wrong. Her sensitive skin is somehow as she described 'inflammed with red, angry pimples filled with pus'. I can imagine how horrifying it is to be her. But seeing how her fans encourage and support her, she must be very grateful. From her experience, it should at least make us girls be more careful doing beauty treatment. Just remember, always be thoughtful before deciding doing something that can 'probably' ruin your beauty even the value of your life.

For Bunbun, I really wish she recover soon. They say beautiful is painful, but is it?

The Lady Noir

I always dreaming of having my own fashion label. Which is one of my resolution this year. I'm glad that it actually made progress. Though it's new, I believe it will last.

Why VROUWEN?
Vrouwen means women in dutch language, and my collection are for women, so it's related. They say, choosing a label name is not easy. I totally agree. Before I decided to use Vrouwen, I was planning using my own name, which I 'modified' a bit. Beside it turned out weird, some friends told me the name is not selling. Oh, well!

For more please visit VROUWEN on facebook.

Who run the world? Girls!

I just finished writing about Anne Avantie for VOICE+ April Issue. She is such an inspiration. I started to think few women whom I adore. Not only because of their beauty, but also their personality. Compare to men, women should feel great. The simple thing to think about is we can wear both pants and skirt, while men only wear pants their entire life.

The Pioneer of Kebaya
If u are Indonesian, Im sure u know who she is. If u are not, here's a little story about her. Anne Avantie is a fashion designer specialized in Kebaya. Her designs are beyond perfect. She combined traditional material with modern silhouette. The amazing fact about her is, she never experience formal study about fashion. Yet she become one of most influential designer in Indonesia.  And she is social activist. She help kids who suffer hydrocephalus. Her social journey began when her mother was cured from cancer. She made 'promise' to help who suffer.

Eco Warrior
Nadya Hutagalung was born to an Australian mother and Indonesia father. She start  modelling at 12 years old in Tokyo, Japan. She also become one of the VJ when MTV Asia was launched. She is well known in Asia. There's no doubt about her beauty. She has a project about green living called GreenKampong. And one of Singapore's top 20 influential people voted by CNN. And she is the host of Asia's Next Top Model.

The Duchess of Cambridge
Her charm is flawless. Her life is a dream come true. Kate Middleton has everything women desired. Pretty outfits, charming prince, memorable wedding ceremony, and omg! Her hair, the curl, the color, everything always look perfect. I admit her style is classic but classy. Not sure if she really has the taste or Nikki Pennie, her stylist does.

Mrs. Pitt
Who doesn't recognize this fabulous woman? She's an actress, film director, humanitarian, a hot mama and wife to Brad Pitt. Her lips are every women's dream (or yeah, the dream of men as well) She always appear cool and sexy in most of her movies. Besides, she did a lot of charity.

She become our main report in March issue.

White Rose

I must say January is a hectic month for me. Lot of works to do. I supposed to do FOUR photoshot this month regarding my leave on February. Not only that, I was also faced some troubles like dealing with florist and bridal. I choose wedding theme for February issues. In the last minute I found out, there are NO florist and bridal. And I should create them all by myself, which I think is impossible. Cuz I only got two days. But thanks God, everything went well. Here's the story of my sleepless night. And I'd like to show you how to DIY rose from tissue paper. Yeah, you heard me!

All you need is tissue paper, and separate them by ply.

Fold it on the edge like the picture below.

Pinch diagonally. And start make the crumple by folding it each side till it shapes as desired. Stick a duck tape on the bottom, so the shape would stay.

DONE!

A simple wedding gown by me. Will post the proper photoshot on coming post!

12.12.12

Just drop by so I could have a post on this date. Many people thought this year will be the end. As we know earth is getting older, and human is going wilder. Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed." So whatever happens on earth is caused by human. Sad, huh?

Well, I wrote about recycling fashion on the previous edition of Voice+. About how to reuse, reduce and recycle outfits. Not to mention, how exciting I was creating a dress from newspaper. And yeah! I was satisfied with the photoshot.
